Shopping in Bucharest
Most of the shops in Bucharest are located in large shopping centers and malls, although some can also be found on Victory Avenue and Bulevar Magheru.
Main Shopping Areas in Bucharest
Victory Avenue: this is one of the most famous streets in the city, and whilst it has numerous shops, not all of them are that appealing and there are many that are empty. You should definitely take the time to explore this street, but there are more convenient places to go in terms of shopping.
Unirea Shopping Center: located next to Unirii Square, this imposing shopping center has five floors and a somewhat chaotic design, although there are many shops inside.
Bulevar Magheru: linking Piata Romana with Unirii Square, Bulevar Magheru has many shops and is a good option if you don't want to go to a shopping center.
Bucuresti Mall: this has more than 140 shops of all sorts, and a large cinema, although there is not anything particularly special about this shopping center.
Baneasa: located on the outskirts of the city, this is a large commercial space with many shops and leisure activities. Whilst it's very popular with locals, it's not often frequented by tourists.
What to buy in Bucharest
In addition to the typical souvenirs that can be purchased in all the cities we travel to, one of the most characteristic options when looking for what to buy in Bucharest are the well-known Easter eggs, endowed with beautiful handmade decorations carefully crafted down to the last detail.
You can also find beautiful pieces of pottery and different textiles, among which stand out the embroidered cloths with traditional patterns and white hand-embroidered blouses.
