When you plan a trip, it's common for questions or queries to arise. In the following section, we'll try our best to solve them!

Useful Information

Bucharest in Numbers

With a population of 1.8 million inhabitants, Bucharest is the most populated city in Romania.

Time Difference

The official time zone in Bucharest is GMT +2 in winter and GMT +3 in the summer.

Healthcare

As with the rest of the European Union, EU citizens are entitled to free healthcare in Romania if they hold a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This card is free and to get it, all you need is to show your ID at any Social Security center.

The EHIC does not cover expenses such as transportation by ambulance, family accommodations, or changes to the return travel plan.

If you are not an EU citizen, we recommend taking out comprehensive insurance before you travel.

Electricity & Plugs

Romanian plugs are European flat, two-pole, round-pin domestic AC power plugs, rated for voltages up to 220V. If you have electric appliances with different plugs, don't forget to pack an adaptor!
